United We Fight!

“I received a phone call from my best friend. She felt so devastated by the news that she got.”
United We Fight!

Her mom had Stage I cancer on both breasts.

I didn’t know what to say. I just let her release all the pain. I listened until she had poured her heart out.

This happened 4 years ago.

Yet today, her mom still lives. Fighting with cancer. Now stage II.

I have 2 other friends whose moms both passed on due to breast cancer.

As we gear towards the end of Breast Cancer Awareness Month for this year, may we continue to light up the lives of those who are suffering from it including their families.

I’ve been listening to Dr. Homer Lim, who has over 10 years experience in the holistic wellness industry. Cancer is also one of his specializations.

He shared 4 points that would help in dealing with cancer:

  • Detoxification
  • Unloading the body from toxins is of great importance especially when undergoing cancer therapy.

  • Psychoemotional Well-being
  • The patient’s disposition affects the prognosis of the disease.

Support from the patient’s family and significant others is of big help.

  • Nutrition
  • Meat and foods high in sugar & saturated fats must be lessened or avoided.

  • Intravenous (IV) or Oral Therapies
  • These are the common treatments used in cancer patients. It’s better to seek medical advice from a doctor who specializes in cancer.

  • Special Therapy
  • There are other treatments like Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Hyperthermia Treatment and Energy Healing.

Since I was in the Nursing School, I’ve been really into alternative or complementary treatments. But my knowledge back then was limited to conventional western medicine.

As I became exposed to different health conditions of people, especially my family, friends and their family, I began to thirst for other possible ways in alleviating their pain and suffering.

As what Dr. Lim said, “When you have cancer, you have to think about all the aspects of your condition when it comes to physical, emotional, psychological, as well as your financial situation.

It’s truly important to consider the totality of a human being in fighting diseases aside from cancer.
